Cape York Tours

No Cape York tours planned for 2014 but we are doing some 2 day TRAIN, TECH & TREK programs … so check our SHORT TOURS link below.

Get lost in the Cape … we don’t mean that literally….but it can happen if you’re not prepared. We’re not planning any trips to the Cape in 2014.

But when we go the next time this is what you can expect….

…..We’ll take the hassle out of all that leg work that goes hand in hand with planning an adventure … and numerous hours on the phone and the net …  let us do it all for you. We can make sure that you see and do all those adventurous things that there are to do in one of the most inhospitable places in Australia. There’s some very challenging 4WD tracks. Chances to spot “salties” (man eating crocodiles) in their natural habitat or fish for that elusive “Barra“. If there isn’t a “Barra” for your dinner plate there’s a heap of other varieties that will please the palate of the most fussy fish connoisseur.

one of the many river/creek crossings

Or if you’d like a more relaxed sojourn you can stroll for kilometres along beautiful sandy beaches searching through the sands for what mother nature has thrown up during the raging storms that occur through the wet season. There’s also a huge variety of flora in the many sections of rain forests and heathlands that we travel through … a photographers paradise!!!

You’ll also be travelling in company with other like minded adventurers and being led by an experienced 4WD instructor/guide with first qualifications and a fully equipped support vehicle…..

This tour is a Cooktown to Cairns via the “Tip” taking us 20 nights & 20 days.  We’ll visit the east & west coasts of Cape York Peninsula. During the trip we have three 2night stops and a 4night stop once we reach Seisia. Staying at the top a little longer gives you heaps of time for relaxing and exploring!  Rather than get to Cairns exhausted we allow extra time to get back to Cairns enabling you to wind down slowly as we meander down the road.

Curious as to which way we go? We start in Cooktown with accommodation & breakfast. After breakfast we head off to Lakefield National Park and our first night’s camp.

Without giving too much away – we visit places such as Coen, Wenlock River, Weipa, Captain Billy Landing, Canal Creek, and so much more. There are plenty of water crossings and narrow tracks. We get on and off the Old Telegraph Track at different locations. How much of the OTL we do will depend on the track condition.

As with all our tours this is a self-drive & self-catered trip, this keeps the costs down. Any vehicle with low range is capable of doing this trip. However, the vehicle must be mechanically sound with good tyres and suspension. A snorkel would be an advantage but not essential. Also, the itinerary may change during the trip due to water depths and or road closures/inaccessibility.

Cost for this adventure will be approx. $???? per vehicle for two people. I’ll finalise costing before deposits are taken. The cost includes DBB at the start and end of the trip and soooo much more!!!!!!. The trip is limited to a maximum of 8 vehicles as well as a lead & backup vehicles. Interested ??
